Type 409 mining cable for open-cut mobile equipment

Type 409 mining cable is a Class 2 composite screened trailing cable family for open-cut mining equipment. The supplied range spans 1.1 kV through 22 kV, allowing the requested voltage and conductor area to be matched to pumps, shovels, draglines, blasthole drills or another mobile installation. This page keeps the variants together, while the datasheet tables below retain their separate nominal dimensions, electrical values, earth-screen data, outer diameter and mass.

Its defining arrangement is three flexible power cores with one central extensible pilot, Class 2 EPR insulation and a composite earth screen made from tinned annealed copper wire and polyester yarn. A heavy-duty PCP sheath and, where applicable, polyaramid yarn braid reinforcement address the handling context described in the source. The cable is listed for free-air mobile equipment and open-cut trailing service, with very good immersion performance and very good flexibility.

  • Voltage path: select Type 409.1, 409.3, 409.6, 409.11 or 409.22 from the equipment supply.
  • Application fit: compare the route and handling method with the supplied trailing/reeling description before requesting a quotation.
  • RFQ check: send the conductor area, length, equipment, drum or guide arrangement, termination details and required AS/NZS 2802 documents.
Construction

Type 409 composite screen construction

The Type 409 construction is organized around three phase cores and a single central pilot. The source differentiates the conductor/insulation tape treatment by voltage: polyester is listed for 1.1/1.1 kV, while semiconductive screening is listed for 3.3 kV and above.

Confirm the screen and sheath arrangement against the selected voltage designation and the equipment termination design; the dimensional tables are the controlling source for size selection.

Applications

Where Type 409 is used

The supplied application note places this cable in open-cut mining, especially where mobile equipment needs a flexible trailing or reeling connection. Its single pilot is a useful identification point when comparing an existing cable marking.

  • Pumps, shovels and draglines identified in the source application
  • Blasthole drills and most reeling applications in open-cut mining
  • Free-air mobile equipment routes where the selected voltage and conductor area match the machine
  • Before ordering, verify route handling, drum or guide layout, terminations and the equipment protection interface

The datasheet does not provide current capacity, minimum bend radius, tensile load or travel speed. Treat those as project confirmation items rather than inferred Type 409 ratings.

Caractéristiques

Type 409 Class 2 Composite Screened Mining Cable 1.1–22 kV technical data

The dimensional and electrical values below are transcribed from the supplied PDF for Type 409 mining cable. The tables are retained by voltage, screen option or construction section as presented in the source. Source ordering codes are included where present in the extracted table; blank source cells are not assigned new values.

Use the relevant area, conductor dimensions, insulation or covering thickness, nominal diameter and mass together. The source does not create a universal current-capacity, bend-radius, pulling-load or travel-speed value for this product.
