UL 5359 wire selection

UL 5359 is a UL-certified mica-insulated wire rated 600 V AC, with 200°C and 450°C construction options. This page includes a detailed 450°C single-conductor selection table for high-temperature equipment leads protected from mechanical damage.

The 18 dimensioned configurations cover 26 AWG through 4/0 AWG. Each row combines UL 5359 with the conductor size and lists stranding, mica thickness, fiberglass-braid thickness and finished diameter. The wall schedule increases in steps as the conductor becomes larger, so the table supports both electrical size selection and the practical fit of sleeves, clamps and equipment entries.

For heater, oven or process-equipment wiring, choose the required temperature grade before comparing diameters. The 200°C and 450°C constructions are separate selections under the same style number. Installation should avoid repeated flexing and protect the mica-and-braid system from mechanical abuse. The operating current must be assessed for the selected conductor, ambient conditions, grouping and complete equipment application.

Costruzione

UL 5359 uses the following conductor and insulation system. The diagram illustrates the layer sequence; select the conductor construction and covering shown in the required size specification.

Applicazioni

UL 5359 is used for protected internal leads in high-temperature equipment, including heaters and ovens. Keep the mica-insulated lead supported and avoid locations with repeated bending or rubbing.
