Anti-Capillary Water-Blocked Wire — GXL & TXL

Anti-capillary water-blocked wire for automotive and off-highway harnesses where moisture, oil or coolant can migrate through stranded conductors. GXL and TXL constructions use silicone water-block material over a soft annealed bare-copper conductor, followed by electron-beam cross-linked XLPE insulation.

  • Voltage: 60 V DC (25 V AC).
  • Temperature: -40°C to +125°C.
  • Conductor: soft annealed bare copper, stranded; ASTM B3 / ASTM B174 references.
  • Water block: anti-capillary silicone material applied over the conductor.
  • Insulation: electron-beam cross-linked XLPE in GXL standard-wall or TXL thin-wall construction.
  • Fluid performance: supplied data lists engine oil, gasoline, methanol, power steering fluid, ATF and coolant resistance.
  • Test summary: 5 kV spark test, cold-bend, abrasion, ozone, oil and environmental-cycle checks are listed in the supplied package.

For a quotation, send the GXL/TXL type, AWG size, colour, quantity and harness application.

Anti-Capillary Wire for Fluid-Exposed Harnesses

When a harness crosses from a wet zone into a connector or ECU area, a cut, chafe point or open crimp can allow liquid to wick along a stranded conductor. TEBAOFLEX anti-capillary water-blocked wire is specified for automotive and related harnesses where containing that migration path matters, while retaining a low-voltage SAE J1128 primary-wire format.

The supplied range combines GXL standard-wall and TXL thin-wall constructions with a 60 V DC (25 V AC) rating, -40°C to +125°C operating temperature and electron-beam cross-linked XLPE insulation. Choose GXL when the harness route benefits from a thicker insulation wall; choose TXL when bundle diameter and weight are the tighter constraints. The current supplied size set is GXL AWG 12 and AWG 16, plus TXL AWG 14 and AWG 16.

  • Suitable for: automotive, commercial-vehicle, off-highway and motorcycle harnesses exposed to fluid-migration risk.
  • Confirm before ordering: conductor size, GXL/TXL wall type, colour, route, termination method, fluid exposure and quantity.
  • Selection boundary: confirm the complete environmental duty for marine, outdoor or agricultural equipment before specifying.

See the TEBAOFLEX industrial cable range for related cable families.

Construction

Construction

The conductor is processed with a silicone water-block material before insulation is extruded. The material fills the strand interstices to limit a continuous path for fluid migration; the finished wire then retains a familiar single-core XLPE primary-wire format.

LayerMaterial / constructionBuyer relevance
1 — ConductorSoft annealed bare copper, stranded; ASTM B3 / ASTM B174 references.Specify the AWG size and strand construction against the harness drawing.
2 — Water blockAnti-capillary silicone water-block material applied over the conductor.Fills gaps between strands to limit fluid migration along the conductor.
3 — InsulationElectron-beam cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).Available as GXL standard wall or TXL thin wall under the supplied range.

GXL or TXL

  • GXL: standard wall thickness with greater mechanical and dielectric margin; the default choice when the harness route has less packaging pressure.
  • TXL: thin-wall construction for reduced outside diameter and weight in tight or weight-sensitive bundles.
  • Both supplied constructions use the same 60 V DC (25 V AC) rating, -40°C to +125°C temperature range and water-block approach. Confirm the final size and termination against the equipment drawing.
Applications

Applications

Anti-capillary construction is relevant where a harness moves between wet, dirty or fluid-exposed areas and dry electrical devices. Use the supplied low-voltage primary-wire range for these application groups:

  • Automotive: engine-compartment harnesses, starting and charging circuits, lighting, signal and instrument-panel wiring, sensor leads, and fuel or coolant system wiring.
  • Commercial vehicles and off-highway equipment: trucks, buses, tractors and construction equipment where washdown, mud and long service intervals increase fluid-ingress risk.
  • Motorcycles and powersports: exposed harnesses with limited body-panel protection.
  • Harness replacement and OEM builds: confirm GXL or TXL wall type, conductor size, colour, strip/crimp process and the equipment's routing requirements.

Application boundary

This is a low-voltage primary wire, not a universal substitute for a multi-core, shielded, armoured or continuously reeling cable. For marine, outdoor lighting, agricultural or other non-vehicle duties, confirm the environment, installation method, chemical exposure and required approvals before ordering.
