Product overview

3GRDGÖU basket cable for container-crane spreaders

TEBAOFLEX 3GRDGÖU is a 0.6/1 kV flexible control cable for container-crane connections collected in a gravity-fed basket. The construction combines an aramid support element with six-core bundles, EPR insulation and a black CSP sheath. This page covers the version without ball-rope weights, with 36 to 54 cores and individual conductor sizes of 2.5 or 3.3 mm².

In this installation, the cable must settle into the basket as the spreader rises and leave it smoothly as the spreader descends. Core grouping, cable diameter, suspended weight and basket geometry therefore need to be considered together. Matching only the voltage and number of circuits can overlook a handling mismatch that causes uneven stacking, tight loops or twisting at the basket entrance.

The size tables provide the dimensions, mass, tensile-force reference and minimum bend radius needed for an initial fit check. The 0.6/1 kV rating identifies the version described here; retain it with the complete core configuration on enquiries and replacement schedules. Final cable dimensions and movement limits should be agreed against the crane layout and operating duty.

  • Installation fit: compare the basket clearance and cable-guide geometry with the selected size.
  • Electrical fit: confirm circuit allocation, conductor size and termination entries.
  • Movement fit: specify lift height, acceleration, travel speed and the suspended cable length.

Construction

Construction

The 3GRDGÖU basket cable uses grouped control cores around a dedicated tensile-support element. The illustrated 36-core version contains six bundles of six cores; the 42-, 48- and 54-core versions use additional six-core bundles.

ComponentConstruction detail
Central supportNonmetallic aramid yarn element. The reference support-element tensile strength is at least 10 kN.
ConductorsFinely stranded tinned copper, class 5 according to IEC 60228, for mobile service.
Core insulationMechanically enhanced EPR compound, specified in the reference design as exceeding the mechanical characteristics of type 3GI3.
Core identificationBlack insulation with consecutive white numbers, plus one green/yellow protective-earth core.
Six-core bundlesSix individually insulated cores per bundle, retained by separator tapes. Six, seven, eight or nine bundles give 36, 42, 48 or 54 cores.
Lay-upShort lay around the central support; the reference lay length is no more than eight times the bundle lay-up diameter.
Inner sheath and reinforcementPolychloroprene-based inner sheath, with synthetic yarn reinforcement bonded between the inner and outer sheaths in the reference construction.
Outer sheathBlack high-density CSP compound, selected for resistance to UV exposure, moisture and lubricants.
Weighting arrangementWithout ball-rope weights; the central support is aramid, not a metallic conductor.

Support strength and cable tension are different values. The 10 kN value describes the central aramid component. It does not replace the 4,000 N finished-cable tensile-force value shown for each listed size, nor the limits of the terminations and handling system.

Applications

Applications

Designed for vertical moving connections on container cranes where the control cable is collected by gravity in a basket. Typical duties include spreader control and auxiliary circuits on port or intermodal handling equipment fitted with a suitable basket system.

Application illustration of a gravity-fed collector basket on a crane spreader. The black control cable and steel hoist ropes serve separate functions.

Gravity-fed basket installation

  1. Lay the cable counter-clockwise: install it into the basket without introducing torsion, following the agreed cable and crane installation procedure.
  2. Check the full travel: review the suspended length, basket capacity, entry guide and clearances at both the upper and lower spreader positions.
  3. Respect the selected size: use its bend radius and tensile-force value when checking the route. Provide suitable strain relief at the terminations.
  4. Confirm the motion profile: the reference maximum is 160 m/min; acceleration, braking and basket geometry also affect handling.

Replacement selection

Match the original cable's rated voltage, number of cores, conductor size, overall diameter and mass per metre. Confirm whether the existing system requires ball-rope weights, a separate optical unit or another core allocation before choosing a replacement. This page describes the construction without ball-rope weights and without an optical unit.

A powered reel or a festoon arrangement requires its own movement assessment. Specify that handling method on the enquiry so the cable construction and operating limits can be reviewed for the equipment.
