2YSLCYK-J cable for VFD-to-motor connections
2YSLCYK-J is a 0.6/1 kV screened motor power cable for connections between a variable frequency drive and a three-phase motor. This page covers the black PVC, four-core construction with three phase conductors and one full-size protective-earth conductor. It gives buyers a clear starting point for replacing a marked cable or specifying a new industrial drive route.
PE insulation supports a low-capacitance design, while the combined foil and copper-braid screen helps manage electromagnetic interference along the power connection. The choice still depends on the complete drive system: cable length, motor loading, routing, bonding and the converter manufacturer’s installation requirements all matter. A matching model name alone does not establish a drop-in replacement.
- Choose this arrangement when the equipment design calls for a conventional four-core power connection with a single protective-earth core.
- Match the route to fixed installation or occasional free movement, with space for the bend radius of the selected diameter.
- Compare dimensions before selecting glands, terminals and cable supports; the size table provides reference values for that review.
- State the duty if the existing installation involves repeated guided motion or a different earth arrangement, so the replacement construction can be assessed.

Construction
The selected 2YSLCYK-J design combines four PE-insulated copper cores with two overall EMC screens beneath a black PVC sheath.

| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Conductors | Fine-stranded bare copper, class 5 to IEC 60228 / VDE 0295. |
| Phase and earth arrangement | Three equal-size phase cores and one equal-size green/yellow protective-earth core. |
| Core insulation | Polyethylene (PE). |
| Core identification | Brown, black and grey phase cores; green/yellow protective-earth core. |
| Assembly | Cores laid up in layers. |
| Inner screen | Overall aluminium foil, 100% coverage. |
| Outer screen | Tinned-copper wire braid, approximately 75% coverage for this reference construction. |
| Outer sheath | Special reinforced PVC, black. |
Screening and mechanical protection
The foil and copper braid form the electrical screen. The reinforced PVC description applies to the outer sheath; the construction has no separate armour layer. Maintain screen continuity through suitable terminations and select mechanical protection to suit the cable route.
Applications
Use this four-core VFD motor cable where the drive connection requires a single protective-earth conductor, medium mechanical duty and a screened power route.

- Machine-tool motor supplies and stationary manufacturing equipment.
- Conveyors, handling equipment and production-line drives.
- Fixed wiring and occasional free movement in dry, damp or wet areas and outdoors.
Routing and EMC termination
Allow free movement without tensile loading or forced guidance. Select a different documented construction when the route requires continuous drag-chain cycling, repeated torsion or unsupported suspended loads. Preserve the required bend radius at glands, supports and cabinet entries.
Follow the converter and motor instructions for screen bonding. A broad circumferential braid connection at the specified ends preserves the intended screening arrangement; a screen is not an additional insulated earth core. The cable shielding guide explains how braid construction affects screening and termination choices.
Choosing between related motor cables
This page specifies PE insulation and four equal-size cores with one protective-earth core. The related 2XSLCYK-J uses XLPE insulation, while the related 2YSLCYK-JB uses a 3+3 split-earth layout. The existing 2YSLCY-JB range has a transparent PVC sheath; compare the complete construction before substituting.
