PFA High Voltage Wire, 2 kV DC
PFA high voltage wire is an unshielded 2 kV DC equipment wire with silver-plated or nickel-plated stranded copper. Select the conductor plating for the required fixed-installation temperature.
- Rated voltage: 2 kV DC; test voltage: 4 kV DC.
- Sizes: 26 AWG or 24 AWG, in the three tabulated configurations.
- Insulation: PFA; colour: black.
- Silver-plated copper: −100 to +205°C in fixed installation.
- Nickel-plated copper: −100 to +250°C in fixed installation.
- Minimum bend radius: 4 × outer diameter fixed; 8 × moving.
State the plating, temperature, operating duration, conductor size and length when requesting a quotation.
PFA high voltage wire for hot and cold equipment wiring
PFA high voltage wire in this family is an unshielded, single-conductor wire rated 2 kV DC for internal equipment connections. PFA insulation surrounds silver-plated or nickel-plated stranded copper in 26 AWG and 24 AWG configurations. The fixed-installation temperature limit is tied to conductor plating: silver-plated versions cover −100 to +205°C, while the nickel-plated 24 AWG version covers −100 to +250°C.
The main selection decision is therefore the complete wire construction, not the insulation name alone. Two 24 AWG wires can have the same finished diameter and different temperature limits. The smaller 26 AWG configuration also differs in strand count and diameter, which matters at a compact feedthrough or termination.
- Choose by environment: identify the actual hot or cold zone and the substances that can contact the insulation.
- Choose by routing: match the outer diameter, bend radius and terminal geometry to the available space.
- Choose by duty: distinguish intermittent test operation from continuous voltage exposure before releasing the wire specification.
For continuous operation, voltage derating is recommended and suitability must be validated in the application. The 4 kV DC test value is a verification condition, separate from the 2 kV DC rated value. Construction
The construction comprises one plated stranded copper conductor and PFA insulation. Conductor plating and stranding identify the three configurations.

| Element | Specification |
|---|---|
| Conductor | Stranded copper with silver or nickel plating, according to configuration |
| Stranding | 26 AWG: 7/34; 24 AWG: 19/36 (strand count/strand AWG) |
| Insulation | PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) |
| Insulation colour | Black |
| Screen | Unshielded |
Plating is part of the temperature specification
The silver-plated 26 AWG and 24 AWG wires share the +205°C fixed-installation limit. The +250°C limit belongs to the nickel-plated 24 AWG configuration. State the plating in the enquiry and drawing, even when the conductor size and finished diameter appear identical.
Applications
This PFA wire family suits internal equipment connections in hot or cold zones and compact routes where the insulation may encounter oils, moisture or chemicals. Identify the actual exposure conditions when evaluating the selected configuration.

- Hot-zone wiring: select silver or nickel plating using the applicable fixed-installation limit.
- Cold equipment zones: account for the stated fixed-installation lower temperature limit and the actual handling conditions.
- Confined equipment spaces: select the tabulated diameter and conductor stranding for the feedthrough and termination.
- Oil or chemical exposure: review the actual substance, concentration, temperature and exposure duration for the equipment.
Continuous-duty and movement checks
For continuous use, derating the operating voltage is recommended; validate the cable in the intended application. No universal derating factor is specified. State the working waveform and duration separately from the dielectric test requirement.
The temperature ranges in Specifications apply to fixed installations. For moving service, include the working temperature, bend radius and expected cycles in the enquiry. This construction is intended for equipment and test wiring.

Conductor, diameter and temperature configurations
| Configuration | AWG | Strands (number/AWG) | Copper plating | Outer diameter (mm) | Fixed-installation temperature |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PFA wire 2 kV DC / 26 AWG / silver-plated | 26 | 7/34 | Silver | 1.30 ±0.10 | −100 to +205°C |
| PFA wire 2 kV DC / 24 AWG / silver-plated | 24 | 19/36 | Silver | 3.10 ±0.15 | −100 to +205°C |
| PFA wire 2 kV DC / 24 AWG / nickel-plated | 24 | 19/36 | Nickel | 3.10 ±0.15 | −100 to +250°C |
Read diameter and voltage independently
The 26 AWG wire has a nominal outer diameter of 1.30 mm, while both 24 AWG configurations have a nominal diameter of 3.10 mm. Preserve the stated tolerances when checking a feedthrough. The diameter difference does not change the tabulated 2 kV DC rating.
For a quotation, identify the complete configuration, length, operating voltage and duration, expected current, thermal zone, routing and required inspection documents. For project dielectric testing, specify the test duration, connections and acceptance criteria alongside the listed 4 kV DC test voltage.
Standards
| Item | Requirement or value |
|---|---|
| RoHS | Compliant |
| DC dielectric test voltage | 4 kV DC |
The European Commission explains the RoHS substance restrictions for electrical and electronic equipment. Include the applicable declaration and inspection-document requirements with the enquiry.
For dielectric acceptance testing, state the test duration, specimen or completed-assembly scope, test connections and pass criteria. The test voltage and the rated operating voltage remain separate values.
