PNCT Spreader Basket Cable — 2PNCT-T-U, SPD and SC Types
PNCT spreader basket cable for container-handling cranes, with 600 V 2PNCT-T-U and SPD options plus 0.6/1 kV SC-PNCT round and flat constructions. Select by core grouping, basket geometry and the installation limits of the exact model.
PNCT spreader basket cable supplies moving container-handling equipment through a gravity collector basket. This family brings together 600 V 2PNCT-T-U, SPD(Y)-2PNCT and SPD-FHNCT with 0.6/1 kV SC-PNCT configurations. Each table identifies its own voltage, grouped-core arrangement and dimensions so the required circuit layout can be matched to the crane.
Begin with the basket and moving-end geometry. The 600 V Japanese-style constructions use a clockwise collection direction viewed from above. SPD(Y)-2PNCT is intended for yard-crane duty, while SPD-FHNCT provides a separate quayside-crane construction with ETFE insulation and a tension member. Basket diameter, permitted stroke and cable handling instructions follow the selected model.
The SC-PNCT range offers round grouped-core and flat grouped-core forms. SC-PNCT(S) adds a screening option in the flat range. Preserve the group arrangement as well as the total number of cores: cables with the same total circuit count can have different dimensions, support requirements and termination space. The 600 V and 0.6/1 kV constructions also have different dielectric test schedules.
Use the configuration tables to compare cable dimensions, conductor resistance and cable mass before choosing the basket, guides and terminations. For an enquiry, send the complete model and grouped configuration, cable length, crane type, basket drawing, moving stroke and hoisting speed. This lets the quotation address the intended collection system and the equipment interface together.
Explore the port and festoon cable range for related configurations.
For European VDE spreader basket cable counterparts to Japanese PNCT basket constructions, compare these models: 3GRDGÖU 0.6/1 kV Basket Spreader Cable (for 0.6/1 kV gravity-fed spreader baskets requiring high coil stability and central support); 3GSLTOE 0.6/1 kV Spreader Basket Cable (for high-speed ship-to-shore container crane basket collection systems). Check basket inner diameter, coiling speed, and control core count before ordering.
Construction
The representative illustration is round SC-PNCT 6 × 6 × 2.5 mm²: six groups of six insulated cores around a central filler, inside one black rubber sheath. The flat and SPD constructions are listed separately below.

| Component | Material and construction |
|---|---|
| Conductors | 2PNCT-T-U uses tinned annealed copper. SPD(Y)-2PNCT combines tinned annealed copper wires and tinned steel wires. SC-PNCT uses flexible tinned annealed copper with steel-wire reinforcement in the stated small sizes. |
| Insulation | EPR for 2PNCT-T-U, SPD(Y)-2PNCT and SC-PNCT. SPD-FHNCT uses ETFE insulation. |
| Core assembly | Round SC-PNCT has six core groups around a central filler. Flat SC-PNCT and SC-PNCT(S) retain the grouped arrangement shown in their configuration tables. |
| Screening | SC-PNCT(S) is the screened flat option; the table gives its screening-wire diameter and separate sheath dimensions. |
| Tapes and reinforcement | Separator tapes, fillers and binder support the assembly. SPD-FHNCT includes a tension member. |
| Outer sheath | Black polychloroprene rubber; sheath thickness depends on model and configuration. |
Applications
Choose a basket cable by the crane and collection geometry; keep each model’s installation direction, basket requirements and travel limits with its specification.

- 2PNCT-T-U: basket-spreader connections, collecting clockwise when viewed from above the basket.
- SPD(Y)-2PNCT: yard-crane and RTG gravity-collector baskets; hoisting stroke up to 30 m and speed up to 100 m/min. Collect clockwise viewed from above. The 2.5 mm² construction requires a basket diameter of at least 1.0 m, a centre cone diameter of at least 0.6 m, and the specified cable-surface grease before installation. For the 3.5 mm² construction, use a basket diameter as large as practical.
- SPD-FHNCT: quayside container-crane baskets; basket diameter at least 1.4 m, without a cone. Collect clockwise viewed from above and apply grease to the cable surface before installation as specified for this construction.
- SC-PNCT: moving spreader power and control connections; select the round or flat grouping, screen requirement and strain relief for the installation.
- Provide the basket and guide arrangement with the enquiry; maintain the selected cable’s bending and load limits throughout the moving path.
When specifying vertical spreader drop and port crane reeling cables, review these solutions: Port & Container Crane Cable Solutions (for STS, RMG, and RTG crane subsystem cable selection across reels, festoons, and spreaders); PANZERFLEX-L & PANZERFLEX-VS Heavy-Duty Port Reeling & Vertical Spreader Cable (0.6/1 kV) (for heavy-duty vertical spreader reeling as an alternative to gravity basket collection). Confirm free-hanging height, hoist speed, and strain-relief core breaking load.

Grouped configurations retain the source arrangement. For example, SC-PNCT 6 × 6 × 2.5 mm² has 36 insulated cores, each 2.5 mm².
Approximate overall dimensions and masses are selection data. The selected construction and quotation drawing determine the delivered configuration.
Tensile force, lateral pressure and load-per-area values are different quantities. Apply only the value assigned to the selected model.
SC-PNCT(S) screened flat configurations have their own dimensions and weights. Confirm termination and support space for the complete screened assembly.
