Product overview

Deep-ocean conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) rosette profiling, naval hull/towed sonar arrays and abyssal seismic or neutrino observatories demand specialized cables that maintain stable electrical impedance and optical attenuation under hydrostatic pressures up to 100 MPa (10,000 m). This series covers full-ocean-depth CTD winch umbilicals, matched-impedance 40 Ω sonar cables, armored acoustic/magnetic surveillance cables and 2,000–2,500 m electro-optical array backbones.

For shipboard hydrographic winches, Type 2.3 CTD-7000 (OD 10.6 mm) uses torque-balanced galvanized steel armor to deliver a ≥70 kN breaking load and ≥68 MPa (7,000 m) pressure rating. For ultra-deep hadal trenches down to 10,000 m+, Type 2.4AF CTD-10000 (OD 10.6 mm) replaces steel wire with high-modulus synthetic tensile fibers—slashing submerged weight in water from 320 kg/km down to just 25 kg/km while sustaining ≥29 kN breaking load and ≥100 MPa hydrostatic resistance.

For naval and coastal sonar systems, REF 57942 provides 28 individually copper-spun-shielded 0.34 mm² pairs tuned to 40 ± 5 Ω characteristic impedance inside a dynamic PUR sheath, complemented by REF 52566 / REF 6050 (4.5 kV peak, 40 Ω FEP/Neoprene transmitter coax), REF 56427 (stainless-steel-braided ETFE magnetic detection triplets) and REF 50108 (8,900 daN steel-armored acoustic detection cable).

Specify the model designation, deployment depth (2,000 m to 10,000 m), impedance requirement and drum length in your RFQ. TEBAOFLEX manufactures oceanographic and sonar cables from a 50 m minimum order quantity with a lead time of 7–45 working days.

Explore the marine, offshore and underwater cable range for related configurations.

For related deep-ocean armoured tow cables and fixed seabed observation umbilicals, compare: 39–45 Ohm Coaxial Armoured Tow Cable (double-steel-wire-armoured 39–45 Ohm coaxial tow cable for deep geophysical surveys); Seabed Ocean-Observation, Borehole Sensing & Submersible Aquaculture Composite Cable (stationary seabed observatory, borehole sensing, and offshore aquaculture composite cables). Verify 2,000 m to 10,000 m hydrostatic depth rating, torque balance, and low-capacitance pair impedance.

All hydrostatic pressure ratings (68 MPa, 100 MPa, 250 bar, 260 bar), breaking loads, conductor resistances and air/seawater weights are taken directly from the engineering datasheets for Type 2.3 CTD-7000, Type 2.4AF CTD-10000, REF 56427, REF 50108, REF 52566 / 6050, REF 57942, REF 50580, REF 39465 and REF 26896.

Both Type 2.3 CTD-7000 and Type 2.4AF CTD-10000 share an identical 10.6 mm nominal outside diameter so oceanographic vessels can upgrade from 7,000 m steel-armored CTD wire to 10,000 m synthetic-fiber CTD umbilical using the same 10.6 mm winch Lebus groove shell and sheave blocks.

Hydrostatic qualification testing is supported up to 100 MPa (equivalent to 10,000 m water column) along with cyclic sheave fatigue testing up to 600 kN and tensile break testing up to 1,000 kN.
