IEC 60092-376 150/250 V Shipboard Control Cable
Halogen-free 150/250 (300) V shipboard control, telecontrol and instrumentation cables manufactured to IEC 60092-350 and IEC 60092-376. Supplied in unscreened multicore (K), overall copper-braid screened multicore (KS), individually foil-screened multipair (TPS), pair-screened plus overall braided (TPSS) and 120 °C high-temperature SHF2 constructions.
IEC 60092-376 150/250 (300) V shipboard control and instrumentation cables connect bridge consoles, engine-room automation outstations, PLC racks, alarm monitoring panels and 4–20 mA / HART analogue transmitters across commercial vessels. Designed specifically for dense shipboard signal routing, they combine low-capacitance XLPE insulation with halogen-free flame-retardant outer sheaths.
Four standard shielding architectures address different electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) environments aboard ship. Unscreened multicore (Type K) serves dry contact and relay indication runs; overall tinned copper braid screened multicore (Type KS) protects multi-channel control leads from external power-cable interference; individually foil-screened multipair (Type TPS) eliminates pair-to-pair crosstalk between analogue signals; and individually foil-screened pairs with an overall tinned copper braid (Type TPSS) provide full double screening for VFD-adjacent machinery rooms.
Both standard SHF1 outer sheaths and cross-linked oil-resistant SHF2 outer sheaths (tested at 100 °C for 24 hours to IEC 60092-359) are available with identical nominal diameters and masses. For exhaust manifolds, boiler rooms and high-ambient turbine enclosures, a dedicated 120 °C high-temperature flexible Class 5 tinned copper construction with SHF2 sheathing extends thermal capability from −40 °C to +120 °C.
Review the multicore (2–37 cores) and multipair (1–37 pairs) dimensional tables and loop electrical parameters below. Specify shielding architecture, core or pair count, conductor cross-section (0.5 mm², 0.75 mm² or 1.5 mm²) and SHF1/SHF2 sheath grade when requesting a quotation.

Construction
The representative cutaway shows a double-screened multipair shipboard instrumentation cable (Type TPSS) with stranded tinned copper conductors, black-and-blue numbered XLPE insulated twisted pairs, individual aluminium/polyester foil screens with drain wires, an overall tinned copper wire braid and a black SHF1/SHF2 outer sheath.

| Component | Material and construction |
|---|---|
| Conductor | Stranded annealed tinned copper to IEC 60228 Class 2 (0.5 mm², 0.75 mm², 1.5 mm²); Class 5 flexible tinned copper used on the 120 °C high-temperature SHF2 variant. |
| Insulation | Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) to IEC 60092-351 rated 90 °C continuous operation (or 120 °C cross-linked halogen-free polymer on the high-temperature build). |
| Core & pair identification | Multicore (K / KS): white cores with printed black numbers (1, 2, 3…). Multipair (TPS / TPSS): black and blue insulated conductors numbered per pair (Pair 1: black 1 + blue 1, Pair 2: black 2 + blue 2…). |
| Individual pair screen (TPS / TPSS) | Aluminium/polyester tape with tinned copper drain wire applied over each twisted pair to suppress inter-pair crosstalk. |
| Inner covering | Extruded halogen-free inner covering (or non-hygroscopic lapped tape on request) over the laid-up cores or screened pairs. |
| Overall braid screen (KS / TPSS) | Tinned copper wire braid providing low-impedance high-frequency EMI shielding and mechanical reinforcement. |
| Outer sheath | Black halogen-free flame-retardant SHF1 or oil-resistant cross-linked SHF2 compound to IEC 60092-359 / IEC 60092-360. |
Applications
Select the IEC 60092-376 screening configuration according to signal sensitivity and proximity to shipboard power feeders or variable-frequency drives.

Shielded-pair mutual capacitance on TPS and TPSS cables is 129 nF/km (0.5 mm²) and 132 nF/km (0.75 mm²) with standard XLPE insulation, or 156 nF/km and 164 nF/km respectively when specified with HF S95 elastomer insulation.
Ground individual pair drain wires and overall copper braid screens according to the vessel EMC plan—typically single-end earthing for low-frequency analogue pair screens and 360° EMC gland bonding for the overall copper braid at bulkhead and cabinet entries.
