MHYV Mining Communication Cable Family
MHYV mining communication cable serves fixed underground copper communication and monitoring circuits. The family combines PE insulation and blue PVC outer sheaths with five separate constructions: stranded-copper MHYV, copper-steel reinforced MHJYV, steel-braided MHYBV, bonded-sheath MHYAV and steel-wire-armoured MHYA32. Reference configurations range from one pair to 80 pairs, with a separate MHYV star-quad option. Send the exact model, pair or quad arrangement, conductor build and route length for a technical quotation.
MHYV mining communication cable connects fixed copper communication, monitoring and signalling circuits in underground coal mines. The family uses polyethylene insulation and blue PVC outer sheaths, with different conductor and protective-layer arrangements for ordinary galleries, routes exposed to mechanical damage, damp workings and shafts. Select the complete designation: MHYV, MHJYV, MHYBV, MHYAV and MHYA32 describe different constructions, even when their pair counts overlap.
Start with the installation route. An ordinary gallery circuit may use the unarmoured MHYV construction. Copper-steel reinforcement in MHJYV and a steel-wire braid in MHYBV address different mechanical needs. MHYAV adds an aluminium-polyethylene bonded layer for damp routes; MHYA32 combines that layer with steel-wire armour for shaft and incline applications. Supports, cable entries and termination space must suit the selected outer construction.
Then match the communication circuit and terminal arrangement. The reference range includes stranded tinned-copper conductors, mixed copper-steel conductors and solid copper conductors. Select the conductor construction and resistance together with the pair count to match the terminals. The four conductors in an MHYV 1 × 4 star quad also have a different lay-up from two separately twisted pairs. Keeping that distinction on the order helps preserve the intended circuit grouping during installation.
The specification tables separate model-specific configurations, conductor builds and reference dimensions. Use them with the equipment circuit requirements and the actual route, including moisture exposure, installation temperature and shaft support arrangements. Confirm the working circuit voltage, required documents and drum lengths with the order. TEBAOFLEX accepts a minimum order of 50 m, with a confirmed production lead-time range of 7–45 working days.

Construction
These five MHY constructions share PE insulation and PVC outer sheaths, but their conductor and protection layers are model-specific. The main image illustrates the unarmoured MHYV 1 × 4 star-quad construction; the reinforced, braided and armoured variants have the additional layers listed below. The main image is a representative construction illustration.
| Component | Material and construction |
|---|---|
| MHYV conductor | Seven 0.28 mm tinned soft-copper wires per conductor, stranded together: 7/0.28 mm. |
| MHJYV conductor | Mixed strand per conductor: four 0.28 mm tinned-copper wires plus three 0.28 mm galvanized-steel wires. This reinforcement is within each conductor. |
| MHYBV, MHYAV and MHYA32 conductors | Solid soft copper: one 0.80 mm wire per conductor, designated 1/0.8 mm. |
| Insulation and core groups | Low-density polyethylene insulation. Cores form twisted pairs or the specified star quad; multi-pair constructions are assembled from twisted-pair groups. |
| MHYV and MHJYV outer construction | Blue PVC sheath over the laid-up insulated cores; no separate steel armour or aluminium-polyethylene bonded layer in these reference constructions. |
| MHYBV layers outside the core | Insulating binder tape, PE inner sheath, galvanized fine-steel-wire braid, then blue PVC outer sheath. The braid is mechanical armour. |
| MHYAV layers outside the core | Insulating binder tape, longitudinal aluminium-polyethylene composite tape with a sealed overlap, PE inner sheath, then blue PVC outer sheath. |
| MHYA32 layers outside the core | Insulating binder tape, longitudinal aluminium-polyethylene composite tape with a sealed overlap, PE inner sheath, galvanized round-steel-wire armour, then blue PVC outer sheath. |
| Identification for the illustrated star quad | Four PE-insulated cores in red, blue, white and green. The blue outer sheath encloses one four-core star-quad group. |
Applications
Choose the model by route exposure and circuit grouping. These reference constructions serve fixed mine communication routes; shaft suspension, mechanical protection and cable-entry design require the selected cable diameter and installation arrangement.
- MHYV: fixed communication and monitoring routes in level galleries, inclined galleries and underground electromechanical chambers.
- MHJYV: gallery and incline communication circuits requiring a reinforced copper-steel conductor construction.
- MHYBV: gallery and incline communication routes where a galvanized-steel-wire braid provides additional mechanical protection.
- MHYAV: communication circuits in damp inclined shafts and galleries using the bonded aluminium-polyethylene protective layer.
- MHYA32: vertical-shaft and inclined-shaft communication routes with steel-wire armour; coordinate supports and load transfer with the shaft layout.
- Preserve pair or star-quad identification through joints and terminals. Agree circuit voltage, loop-resistance allowance and equipment connections before selecting the cable.
- For repeated trailing, reeling or flexing, specify the movement duty separately and select a cable designed for the required continuous motion.
For route and construction selection, see the mining and tunneling cable application guide.
For another fixed copper communication construction, compare MGM 110 armoured telephone and signal cable by conductor size, insulation and protective layers. For distributed radio coverage, use the separate selection route for radiating leaky-feeder coaxial cable; it serves an RF distribution function rather than the MHY copper pair or star-quad circuit.

The configuration and dimensional tables below are standard-reference selection data. Final supplied dimensions, marking and delivery lengths follow the agreed construction.
In 5 × 2, the first number is the number of pairs and the second is the conductors per pair. MHYV 1 × 4 identifies one four-conductor star quad; it must not be relabelled as four pairs or treated as the same lay-up as 2 × 2.
Conductor notation gives wire count/wire diameter in millimetres: 7/0.28 is seven wires of 0.28 mm each, and 1/0.8 is one solid 0.80 mm wire. These figures are not conductor areas in mm².
MHJYV contains both copper and steel within the conductor. Use its own resistance limit when checking loop resistance and selecting terminations.
The 1.5 kV AC, one-minute value in Standards is a dielectric withstand test condition. Working circuit voltage is specified with the connected equipment.
Pair count and PE insulation do not define an Ethernet category, bandwidth or protocol. Provide the actual communication interface and circuit parameters.
Steel braid and round-wire armour are separate mechanical constructions. Confirm cable-entry clamping, support and bonding details for the selected model.
Cut lengths and drum lengths are agreed with the order, including the 50 m minimum-order option.
