Product overview

Type P power cable 5C for five-conductor marine and offshore power, control and auxiliary circuits. The current reference is rated 600 V or 0.6/1 kV and covers 8 AWG to 4/0 AWG. It uses flexible stranded tinned copper conductors, chemically cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) insulation and a flame-retardant thermosetting CPE jacket in an unarmoured construction. A 125°C continuous conductor reference and resistance to oil, abrasion, moisture, vibration and sunlight support harsh oil-and-gas routes.

Use the five-core form when the approved cable schedule needs three-phase power plus an earth or auxiliary function in one cable. Confirm whether the fifth core is protective earth, neutral, control or spare; do not infer the circuit arrangement from the product name. Core identification, conductor class, OD, bend radius, ampacity, short-circuit duty and termination hardware must be matched to the ordered datasheet. The approved schedule determines each core function and termination.

For procurement, send voltage, core function, conductor size, route, ambient temperature, tray grouping, mechanical protection and required fire, mud or classification evidence. Compare the Type P 1C power cable, Type P control cable and Oil & Gas Cables range before requesting a quote.

Applications

Applications

  • Five-core power and auxiliary circuits on offshore platforms, drilling rigs and marine vessels.
  • Fixed module and cable-tray routes in oil and gas production facilities.
  • Power/control assemblies where a fifth core is required for earth, neutral or auxiliary duty.
  • Equipment connections that need a flexible Type P jacket system within the project route limits.

Installation boundary: the unarmoured reference is not a substitute for an armored cable where crush, impact or hazardous-area requirements demand additional protection. Confirm the route design and bonding method before order.

Standards

Standards

  • IEEE 1580 and IEEE 45 Type P marine shipboard references.
  • UL 1309 and applicable CSA marine cable references for the ordered design.
  • IEEE 1202 and IEC 60332-3-22 Category A flame-propagation references where specified.
  • ASTM B33 and IEC 60092 references may be included in international procurement schedules.

Use the ordered datasheet and certificate package to confirm the exact model, test scope, classification and installation approval. Standards names alone are not an approval claim.
