230 V Fluoropolymer-Jacket Self-Regulating Heat Trace Cable, 10–40 W/m
230 V self-regulating pipe and tank heating cable with a fluoropolymer outer sheath and six output options from 10 to 40 W/m at 10°C.
This 230 V fluoropolymer-jacket self-regulating heat trace cable is a pipe and tank heating option where jacket selection matters alongside heat output. It offers six reference outputs at a 10°C pipe temperature: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 W/m. The conductive core reduces local output as the tracked surface warms, but the system still needs a heat-loss calculation, suitable control strategy and correctly sized electrical protection.
Compared with the modified-polyolefin-jacketed 65°C family, this construction has a fluoropolymer outer sheath over a copper screen, while retaining modified-polyolefin insulation around the self-regulating core. The source describes use with mild inorganic solutions on steel, painted steel, stainless steel and plastic pipe surfaces. It specifically excludes steam washing and continuous exposure to strong corrosive or organic acids. A fluoropolymer jacket is therefore a construction distinction, not a blanket claim of resistance to every chemical.
The reference ratings are −55°C minimum installation temperature, 65°C maximum powered temperature, 80°C maximum unpowered exposure and a 25 mm minimum bend radius. These values should appear together in an order specification so a higher-temperature process upset is not mistaken for normal operating capacity. The best output option depends on pipe diameter, vessel surface, insulation, ambient minimum and target temperature. When requesting a quotation, provide those conditions plus the exact chemical exposure, voltage, desired circuit length and area classification. Select the fluoropolymer-jacket construction against the stated chemical exposure and the temperature class of the chosen output variant.
When a process line must be held above the 65°C powered limit of this family, the 230 V 120°C high-temperature heat trace cable permits a maximum of 120°C both powered and unpowered, although its reference application statement excludes steam washing.
Compare related constructions: high-temperature cable range. Electrical supply option: screened heating-circuit cable; it supplies a heating installation but does not replace the self-regulating heat trace on the process line.
The reference construction comprises copper conductors, a self-regulating conductive core, modified-polyolefin insulation, a copper screen and a fluoropolymer outer sheath. The metallic screen and jacket selection must be considered together with the specified termination and gland system.
- Conductors: copper; size and plating not supplied.
- Core: self-regulating conductive matrix.
- Insulation: modified polyolefin.
- Screen: copper.
- Outer sheath: fluoropolymer.
- Minimum bend radius: 25 mm.
Sheath thickness, outside dimensions and weight are not given in the reference PDF.

For freeze protection or temperature maintenance on piping and tanks exposed to mild inorganic solutions, select this version when a fluoropolymer outer sheath is needed for the installation. The source lists steel, painted steel, stainless steel and plastic as possible tracked surfaces.
- Evaluate 10–40 W/m options against calculated heat loss at the 10°C output reference point.
- Keep operating conditions within 65°C while powered and 80°C while unpowered.
- Do not specify this version for steam washing or continuous strong-corrosive or organic-acid exposure on the strength of this sheet.
Share the chemical name and concentration with the project specification rather than choosing by a broad “chemical resistant” label alone.

Output is measured at the stated reference temperature. The temperature limits describe different operating conditions and are not interchangeable.

Maximum circuit length varies by output, starting temperature and protective device; it must be finalized from the ordered construction and system design. The source assigns different temperature classes to output variants, so confirm the class for the selected output before finalizing the circuit.

For a project that requires classified-area electrical heat tracing, EN IEC 60079-0:2018 and EN IEC 60079-30-1:2017 are cited as reference editions in the technical source. Include the area classification and destination jurisdiction in the order specification. The exact output variant, cable marking and connection system need their own approval documentation for that installation.
