MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR and MSCPTJB Reinforced Shearer Cable
Reinforced, monitored coal shearer and mobile machine cables at 0.66/1.14 kV and 1.9/3.3 kV: MCPJB (semi-conductive screens, braided reinforcement, MT/T 818.3), MCPTJB and MCPTJR (metallic phase screens with braided B or wrapped R reinforcement) and the double-screened MSCPTJB for shuttle cars and roof-bolter drill rigs. Class 5 tinned copper, EPR insulation and chloroprene-type sheaths.
High-output longwall shearers, steep-seam combines, shuttle cars and roof-bolter drill rigs put more pulling and twisting load on their trailing cables than a standard shearer cable is designed for. In the Chinese MT coal-mine cable system, the suffix B or R marks a reinforced construction: B for a braided reinforcement layer and R for a wrapped reinforcement layer, applied between the inner and outer sheaths. This page covers four reinforced designations, MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR and MSCPTJB, from 0.66/1.14 kV to 1.9/3.3 kV.
MCPJB is the standard reinforced shearer cable of MT/T 818.3: semi-conductive rubber screens over the EPR-insulated power cores, control and monitoring cores (for example 3×50+1×25+3×1.5+3×1.5 mm2) and a braided reinforcement layer. MCPTJB and MCPTJR keep the reinforcement but replace the semi-conductive screens with tinned copper and fibre composite metallic screens for lower fault-loop impedance, at 0.66/1.14 kV and 1.9/3.3 kV in sizes from 10 mm2 to 240 mm2. MSCPTJB is an enterprise-standard double-screened variant at 0.66/1.14 kV, with metallic phase screens, a monitoring core and braided reinforcement, used on shuttle cars and roof-bolter drill rigs in layouts such as 3×16+1×10+1×10 mm2.
The standard MCP and MCPTJ shearer cables on our existing page already include an anti-torsion braid that binds the core assembly under a single outer sheath. The B and R designations add a separate reinforcement layer between two sheaths and are chosen where pulling load, steep gradients or long faces exceed that duty. MCPTJB, MCPTJR and MSCPTJB are enterprise designations that apply the MT 818 flame clauses, so their construction is confirmed on the order drawing.

MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR and MSCPTJB Longwall Shearer & Shuttle-Car Applications
Select by phase screen type, reinforcement form and the haulage duty of the machine.

- Longwall drum shearers on 0.66/1.14 kV and 1.9/3.3 kV faces where cable handler pull or face length exceeds the duty of standard MCP / MCPTJ cable.
- Steep-seam and inclined-face combines where gravity load on the trailing cable calls for braided (B) or wrapped (R) reinforcement.
- Shuttle cars and roof-bolter drill rigs on 0.66/1.14 kV using the double-screened MSCPTJB construction.
- Replacement of reinforced shearer cable on Chinese coal machinery exported to overseas coal mines, matched to the original designation.
MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR and MSCPTJB vs Standard MCP and MCPTJ Selection Boundary
| Model | Voltage & Phase Screen | Reinforcement Layer | Best Fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCPJB (this page) | 0.66/1.14 kV, semi-conductive rubber (MT/T 818.3) | B: braided layer between two sheaths | 0.66/1.14 kV shearers needing extra pull and torsion reinforcement |
| MCPTJB / MCPTJR (this page) | 0.66/1.14 & 1.9/3.3 kV, tinned Cu / fibre composite | B: braided or R: wrapped between sheaths | High-pull longwall and steep-seam shearers (10 to 240 mm²) |
| MSCPTJB (this page) | 0.66/1.14 kV, double metallic screen + monitoring | B: braided layer between two sheaths | 0.66/1.14 kV shuttle cars and roof-bolter drill rigs |
| Standard MCP / MCPTJ | 0.66/1.14 & 1.9/3.3 kV (MT/T 818.2 / 818.4) | Core-binding anti-torsion braid under single sheath | Standard longwall shearer duty within baseline MT/T 818 pull limits |
Choose MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR or MSCPTJB where a separate braided (B) or wrapped (R) reinforcement layer between two sheaths is required; choose standard MCP or MCPTJ for baseline shearer duty.

MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR and MSCPTJB Frequently Asked Questions
How do MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR and MSCPTJB differ in screening and reinforcement?
MCPJB (0.66/1.14 kV, MT/T 818.3) uses semi-conductive rubber phase screens and a braided reinforcement layer (B) between the inner and outer sheaths. MCPTJB and MCPTJR (0.66/1.14 kV and 1.9/3.3 kV, 10–240 mm²) use tinned copper and fibre composite metallic phase screens with either a braided (B) or wrapped (R) reinforcement layer. MSCPTJB (0.66/1.14 kV) is an enterprise double-screened metallic construction with a monitoring core and braided reinforcement for shuttle cars and roof-bolter drill rigs.
What is the difference between B (braided) and R (wrapped) reinforcement?
Both B and R place a dedicated high-tenacity reinforcement layer between an extruded inner chloroprene-type sheath and the heavy-duty outer sheath to absorb pulling and torsion load. B uses an open braided layer, while R (as in MCPTJR 3x95+1x50+4x6 and 3x120+1x70+4x6) uses a wrapped reinforcement layer that achieves a slightly smaller overall diameter for the same core layout.
When should I choose these B or R reinforced cables over standard MCP or MCPTJ?
Standard MCP and MCPTJ cables use an anti-torsion braid that binds the core assembly under a single outer sheath. Choose MCPJB, MCPTJB, MCPTJR or MSCPTJB when long faces, steep-seam gradients, heavy cable-handler pull or shuttle-car reeling require a separate reinforcement layer between two sheaths.
What are the minimum order quantity and manufacturing lead time?
The minimum order quantity (MOQ) is 50 m and the manufacturing lead time is 7 to 45 working days, with screen arrangement and reinforcement confirmed on the order drawing.
