NTMCGCWÖU Single-Core Medium-Voltage Cable
NTMCGCWÖU cable is a flexible, screened single-core rubber cable for short medium-voltage connections in mines, mobile transformer substations, switchgear, railway equipment and heavy industrial power systems. International specifications may write the same designation as NTMCGCWOEU or NTMCGCWOU when the “Ö” character is unavailable. This page consolidates those spellings and the former separate 18/30kV listing into one technical selection path.
The cable family combines a Class 5 finely stranded tinned-copper conductor, semiconductive electrical-field-control layers, EPR insulation, a tinned-copper wire screen and a heavy-duty red rubber sheath. The general family can be reviewed from 3.6/6kV through 18/30kV; the detailed table below records the existing 18/30kV reference construction with a 43kV test voltage and 1×25/16mm² to 1×240/25mm² size range.
NTMCGCWÖU is intended for short flexible links and connection work, not automatically for continuous drum reeling. Selection requires system voltage, conductor cross-section, screen size and bonding method, route length, bending radius, installation mode, short-circuit duty, ambient conditions and required standards. Final ampacity, diameter and weight must be confirmed on the order datasheet. For dynamic movement, compare the R-(N)TSCGEWÖU reeling cable or send the installation drawing through the engineering enquiry form.
NTMCGCWÖU Cable Construction
| Layer | Construction | Selection purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Conductor | Class 5 finely stranded tinned electrolytic copper | Supports flexible installation and conductor surface protection. |
| Conductor screen | Semiconductive layer | Controls electrical stress at the conductor-insulation interface. |
| Insulation | EPR compound | Provides the dielectric layer for the selected MV class. |
| Insulation screen | Semiconductive layer over insulation | Controls the outer insulation interface. |
| Metallic screen | Tinned-copper wires; 16mm² or 25mm² in the 18/30kV reference range | Provides the metallic screen and fault-current path defined by the system design. |
| Outer sheath | Red 5GM3 rubber in the 18/30kV reference construction | External mechanical and environmental protection. |
The screen cross-section, sheath compound, insulation thickness and completed diameter change with voltage and conductor size. Confirm all layer dimensions on the quotation drawing.
Applications and Cable-Type Boundaries
- Short connections between mobile transformer substations and overhead-line interfaces.
- Medium-voltage switchgear, control-panel and transformer-house links.
- Mining and heavy-industrial distribution connections with limited routing space.
- Railway vehicle or equipment connections when the project specification accepts the construction.
When another cable is required
Use a dedicated reeling cable for continuous drum winding, repeated high-speed movement or tightly controlled S-bend routes. Use a multicore mine-distribution cable when the circuit requires three phase cores, earth, control or monitoring elements in one construction. Useful alternatives include (N)TSCGEWÖU mine-distribution cable and (N)TMCETMPU portable trailing cable.
RFQ data
Provide system voltage, conductor and screen cross-sections, current and fault duty, route length, termination and bonding arrangement, minimum bend radius, installation temperature, oil/UV/moisture exposure, drum length and required test documentation.
