Shielded Silicone High Voltage Cable, 8–15 kV DC
Single-conductor shielded silicone high voltage cable, 8–15 kV DC, with copper braid and a silicone jacket. Five configurations cover 0.5–6.0 mm², −50°C to +150°C or +180°C, and outside diameters from 4.9 to 11.6 mm. AC ratings, bending radii and test voltages vary by configuration.
Shielded silicone high voltage cable combines a stranded copper conductor, silicone dielectric, a copper braid and a silicone outer jacket. The five configurations on this page cover 8–15 kV DC and conductor areas from 0.5 to 6.0 mm². Their temperature limits are −50°C to +150°C or −50°C to +180°C, depending on the selected construction.
The metallic braid provides a defined outer screen around the insulated conductor. This makes the family relevant to high voltage equipment and measurement connections where the screen connection and termination layout are part of the electrical design. Both conductor and braid are tinned copper in four configurations; the 10 kV DC / 0.5 mm² version uses silver-plated copper for both.
Choose a complete configuration from the table. The two 8 kV versions differ in conductor area, capacitance and bending radius; the two 15 kV versions have different temperature limits and AC data. Jacket colour identifies each listed construction.
For a quotation, send the waveform, operating duration, required screen connection, cable length and termination dimensions. The DC test values and spark tests in the technical tables are separate from operating ratings. Use the high voltage DC and test cable category to compare insulation and screen arrangements, and the high voltage silicone cable selection guide for equipment-level selection.
Silicone dielectric, copper braid and silicone jacket
- Conductor: fine stranded copper, tin-plated or silver-plated according to configuration.
- Dielectric: silicone insulation around the single central conductor.
- Screen: copper-wire braid with the plating, wire size and coverage listed below.
- Outer jacket: silicone, red for the 0.5–3.9 mm² configurations and white for 15 kV DC / 6.0 mm².

| Configuration | Conductor plating | Conductor stranding | Copper braid |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 kV DC / 0.75 mm² | Tin | 23 × AWG32 | AWG36 tinned copper; ≥85% coverage |
| 8 kV DC / 1.5 mm² | Tin | 28 × AWG30 | AWG34 tinned copper; 80% coverage |

These are four-layer braided-screen constructions, without separate conductor-facing or outer semiconductive layers in the specified build. Braid coverage is tabulated by configuration; include screen-bonding and any EMC or partial-discharge targets in the equipment specification.
Shielded high voltage equipment and measurement connections
Use this family where the circuit calls for a flexible single-conductor high voltage lead with a metallic screen and silicone jacket. Typical selection work includes connections between high voltage equipment, internal shielded leads and test or measurement apparatus operating within the configuration-specific ratings.
- Screened equipment wiring: define the braid termination and screen bonding as part of the system drawing.
- Measurement connections: compare capacitance and cable length; where impedance matters, only the 10 kV DC / 0.5 mm² configuration has a stated typical impedance on this page.
- Warm equipment enclosures: select the full cable temperature range, not the general temperature capability of silicone.

Routing and termination
Use the fixed or moving bend radius listed for the selected configuration. For cable-chain, torsion or reeling duty, include the expected motion cycles and route in the enquiry. The 15 kV DC / 3.9 mm² configuration lists a fixed bend value.
Match conductor, dielectric, braid and jacket diameters to the termination drawing, keeping the specified conductor stranding intact. Include waveform, frequency, energization time and screen-bonding requirements with the enquiry. This family is intended for equipment and test connections.
Electrical ratings and thermal limits
Each row is a complete shielded silicone cable configuration. Rated values apply to the conductor-to-braid insulation arrangement. Define the waveform, frequency and duty cycle when confirming the application; no unlisted continuous AC duty is implied.
| Configuration | Rated DC (kV) | Rated AC (kV) | Temperature (°C) | Conductor resistance at 20°C (Ω/km) | Typical capacitance (pF/m) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 kV DC / 0.75 mm² | 8 | 3 | −50 to +150 | ≤26.7 | 170 |
| 8 kV DC / 1.5 mm² | 8 | 3 | −50 to +150 | ≤13.7 | 200 |
| 10 kV DC / 0.5 mm² | 10 | 3 | −50 to +180 | ≤40 | 132 |
| 15 kV DC / 3.9 mm² | 15 | Not specified | −50 to +150 | ≤4.7 | Not specified |
| 15 kV DC / 6.0 mm² | 15 | 6 | −50 to +180 | ≤3.39 | 185 |
Typical impedance is 43 Ω for the 10 kV DC / 0.5 mm² configuration. No impedance value is assigned to the other configurations. Current capacity depends on the installation and is confirmed separately.

Material and test references
- RoHS: RoHS compliance is specified for all five configurations. See the European Commission RoHS overview for the hazardous-substance restriction framework.
- 10 kV DC / 0.5 mm² halogen content: halogen-free according to DIN EN 60754-1. The IEC 60754-1 method determines halogen acid gas from cable materials; this reference is limited to that configuration.
- Dielectric testing: the Specifications tab separates conductor-to-braid DC withstand tests from AC spark tests on the core and jacket. Test values must be specified with their interface and, for DC withstand, one-minute duration.
For flame-propagation or smoke requirements, state the relevant test method and acceptance criteria for the selected construction.
