Product overview

EV charging power data cable combines the chargepoint supply and a communication or monitoring connection in one cable route. This range includes three-core power with four-pair Cat5e, three- or five-core power with four-pair Cat6A, and an SWA construction with a single screened monitoring pair. The nominal power-voltage class is 0.6/1 kV, with construction-specific dimensions, screens and bend limits.

Choose the communication unit before choosing the sheath. Four-pair network designs contain eight insulated data conductors. The single-pair armoured design contains two data conductors for the specified monitoring or CT connection. Select the unit that matches the charger terminals and control equipment, then check any specified screen and drain-wire termination.

The power-core and protection arrangements also differ. The Cat5e armoured design uses class 5 copper power conductors and a PVC bedding and sheath system. Its screened unarmoured counterpart uses class 2 power conductors. The unarmoured four-pair Cat6A construction combines class 5 power conductors with HDPE-insulated solid data conductors and LSZH sheathing. The SWA monitoring construction uses class 2 power conductors, an orange-sheathed pair unit and separate bedding and armour.

Provide the charger supply, power-core size, data function, cable route and installation conditions with the enquiry. Confirm whether the route needs armour, supplementary mechanical protection or an LSZH sheath. Check the selected outside diameter and bend radius against the entry gland, supports and available space; these are fixed chargepoint connections.

For AC and DC electric vehicle charging station assemblies requiring halogen-free outer jackets, compare these EV charging cables: H05BZ5-F / H07BZ5-F EV Charging Cable (for 300/500 V and 450/750 V harmonized polyurethane AC charging leads under EN 50620); Mode 4 DC EV Charging Cable, 1.5 kV (for 1.5 kV high-current Mode 4 DC fast-charging dispenser tethers with integrated pilot and temperature-sensing pairs). Verify charging mode, continuous ampacity, and communication pair shielding before ordering.

Construction

Construction

The representative unarmoured LSZH construction combines three 6 mm² power cores with one separate four-pair Cat6A unit. The power cores are arranged compactly with the smaller network unit above them; the data foil screens are confined to that unit, inside the common black LSZH sheath.

Applications

Applications

Use these composite constructions for fixed EV chargepoint wiring where the supply and a defined data or monitoring connection share the route. Match the internal unit to the charger and monitoring equipment.

Application illustration.
  • Fixed routes from a supply or control enclosure to an EV charging unit.
  • Four-pair Cat5e or Cat6A connections where the equipment requires a complete four-pair network unit.
  • Single-pair SWA monitoring connections where the selected CT or monitoring circuit requires one screened pair.
  • Unarmoured Cat6A installation in air, clipped to a surface, on trays or ladders, or embedded in concrete; direct burial requires mechanical protection.
  • SWA monitoring routes needing steel-wire mechanical protection for direct burial or external wall-clipped installation.
  • Choose the construction-specific installation temperature, gland, data screen connection and minimum bend radius.

The four-pair network designs and the single-pair SWA monitoring design have different conductor counts and functions. Select the data unit from the equipment terminal and communication requirements.

Current values are construction-family references at 30°C ambient for the stated installation method and 6 mm² power conductors. Determine the installed current with grouping, temperature and the equipment protection design.

Apply the bend multiplier to the overall diameter of the selected row. Do not apply the 6D unarmoured Cat6A radius to the 14D SWA monitoring construction.

Direct-burial and mechanical-protection requirements follow the selected construction and route. Keep the network screen and drain wire termination separate from the power-core terminations.
