CHBU Single-Core Rubber Cable, 1, 3 and 6 kV
1-CHBU, 3-CHBU and 6-CHBU flexible single-core cable for electrical interconnections, with Class 5 annealed copper, EPR insulation and chloroprene-rubber sheath. Select the 1, 3 or 6 kV construction and its own dimensional row; listed sizes extend from 25 to 500 mm² across the family.
CHBU cable is a single-core rubber-insulated and sheathed power cable for electrical interconnections in mining and industrial installations. The family comprises 1-CHBU, 3-CHBU and 6-CHBU constructions for 1, 3 and 6 kV respectively. Each uses flexible Class 5 annealed copper, EPR insulation and a chloroprene-rubber outer sheath. Bare or tinned copper and the separator option are specified with the order.
Select the voltage-designated model before choosing conductor area. The listed 1-CHBU and 6-CHBU series cover discrete sizes from 25 to 300 mm², while 3-CHBU extends to 500 mm². Insulation and sheath thicknesses change between the series, so the same copper area can require a different cable entry. The separate specification tables give nominal layer thicknesses, approximate overall diameter and approximate cable mass for each listed configuration.
The single-core construction provides flexibility for routing and equipment connections without adding a separate earth core, metallic screen or armour. Plan the protective-conductor arrangement and mechanical support as part of the circuit. For installations specified as NSGAFÖU single-core rubber cable or single-conductor Type W cable, select the corresponding construction and voltage data. Where a machine connection requires continuous reeling or a screened multicore cable, specify that duty and cable construction separately.
Send the CHBU model, conductor area, bare or tinned copper requirement, circuit conditions, route, termination size and required length with the enquiry. TEBAOFLEX supplies CHBU cable from a 50 m minimum order quantity, with a manufacturing lead time of 7–45 working days. The quotation identifies the selected build and documentation required for the project.

Construction
The three voltage-designated CHBU models use the same basic single-core material arrangement. Their insulation and sheath thicknesses must be selected from the table for the specified model. The main image represents 3-CHBU 1 × 95 mm² with tinned copper and a polyester separator.
| Component | Material and construction |
|---|---|
| Conductor | One Class 5 annealed copper conductor to IEC 60228; bare or tinned copper as specified. |
| Separator | Polyester tape or semiconducting tape beneath the insulation, selected with the construction. |
| Insulation | EPR, compound designation 3GI3/IEP; thickness depends on model and conductor area. |
| Outer sheath | Chloroprene rubber, compound designation EM2/ON5. |
| Sheath colour | Black; other colours can be specified. |
| Core arrangement | One insulated power conductor; no separate earth or pilot core in this construction. |
Applications
Specify CHBU by its complete voltage-designated model, conductor area and installation duty when selecting a single-core electrical interconnection.
- Single-core electrical interconnections within mining and industrial installations.
- Connections between electrical equipment where flexible copper, EPR insulation and a chloroprene sheath are specified.
- Fixed routes requiring the stated single-core construction and environmental properties.
- Replacement of an identified 1-CHBU, 3-CHBU or 6-CHBU cable after matching voltage, copper area, sheath dimensions and terminations.
For route and construction selection, see the mining and tunneling cable application guide.
For a screened three-core mining connection with a specified trailing or reeling duty, review 6-CHCU mining trailing and reeling cable and its own construction requirements.

The 1, 3 and 6 kV values identify separate CHBU constructions. State the required conductor-to-earth and conductor-to-conductor ratings with the circuit specification; these values are not presented as a U₀/U pair.
Dimensions and masses are reference values for the listed model and size. Match the selected construction drawing to the termination, cable entry and route before ordering.
Conductor areas are discrete table entries. Do not interpolate a missing size or transfer a sheath thickness between voltage-designated models.
Choose bare or tinned copper and the polyester or semiconducting separator option with the order. A semiconducting separator is not a separate metallic screen.
Determine current-carrying capacity from the selected conductor, ambient conditions, grouping and installation method. No universal ampacity is assigned to these tables.
Flexibility alone does not define a continuous reeling, trailing, torsion or tensile-duty rating. Include movement, bend radius, tension and support details where these affect the connection.

Certifications and document support
Review our company certificates and document scopes when identifying the documentation required for the quoted construction.
Include the voltage-designated CHBU model, conductor area, copper finish, installation duty and any product-specific approval or test-document requirements. Match acceptance documents to that exact construction and supply scope; a standard reference or company management-system certificate does not establish product approval.
