Product overview

Type P instrumentation cable 600 V for paired signal and control circuits where both individual-pair screening and an overall shield are specified. This reference covers 16 and 14 AWG conductors in an armored and sheathed construction for offshore, marine and drilling routes. The build uses soft annealed stranded tinned copper, Type P XLPO insulation, individually and overall shielded pairs, braided bronze armor and a flame-retardant thermosetting CPE sheath.

The armored I/O form provides pair-level separation for sensitive instrumentation plus mechanical protection for exposed or demanding cable routes. Confirm pair count, drain wires, screen bonding, color code, armor coverage, gland type, minimum bend radius and hazardous-area installation method before purchase. The 600 V and 125°C references are product-data selections; final ampacity, capacitance and electrical performance depend on the ordered pair layout. Instrument protocol and cable capacitance are part of the selection. Confirm process-loop requirements.

For procurement, send the instrument protocol, pair/triple count, conductor size, screen architecture, route, temperature, EMC, fire and classification requirements. Compare the unarmoured Type P I/O cable, Type P overall-shielded signal cable and the Oil & Gas Cables range.

Applications

Applications

  • Offshore and marine instrumentation, monitoring, alarm and control systems.
  • Fixed cable-tray, module and drilling-unit routes needing mechanical protection.
  • Individually screened pairs for low-level analog, digital or process signals where the approved design requires pair isolation.
  • Overall shield for common EMC control across the instrument cable.

Installation boundary: confirm intrinsic-safety segregation, shield grounding, armor bonding and hazardous-area glands. The cable is not automatically fire-resistant or certified for a specific zone without model-specific evidence.

Standards

Standards

  • IEEE 1580 and IEEE 45 Type P marine/offshore design references.
  • UL 1309 and CSA marine cable references where included in the ordered construction.
  • IEEE 1202 and IEC 60332-3-22 Category A flame-propagation references where specified.
  • IEC 60092 references may be required for international shipboard projects.

List the required classification society, hazardous-area, fire and inspection documents in the RFQ. Standards references do not replace a model-specific certificate.
