Product overview

Type W Round 4/C Cable for Mobile Mining Equipment

Type W Round 4/C is a 2000V portable power cable for mobile mining equipment that requires four insulated conductors in a compact round construction. It is intended for applications where bare grounding conductors are not required or where the equipment connection is designed around four separately insulated conductors.

The cable is commonly specified for continuous miners, blast-hole drills, cutters, loading machines, AC shuttle cars and portable pumps. Its flexible conductor construction supports equipment handling, while the EPR insulation and reinforced CPE jacket provide the electrical and mechanical structure needed for demanding mining routes.

  • Suitable for: Portable 2000V mining power, dragging, handling and equipment connections designed for a round four-conductor cable.
  • Confirm before ordering: AWG size, load current, cable length, reel layers, termination dimensions and required conductor identification.
  • Choose another construction when: The protection system requires a ground-check conductor, phase shielding or an SHD-GC configuration.
  • Movement boundary: Automatic reeling, high torsion or repeated high-speed cycling requires a separate mechanical review.

Applications

Applications

Type W four-conductor mining cable used with underground tunneling equipment Type W Round 4/C cable is intended for mobile mining equipment operating on circuits up to 2000V where a flexible four-conductor round cable is required and the electrical design does not call for bare grounding conductors.
Portable Type W cable supplying mobile drilling equipment in a surface mining operation.

Typical Equipment

  • Continuous miners
  • Blast-hole drilling machines
  • Underground and surface drills
  • Mining cutters
  • Loading machines
  • AC shuttle cars
  • Portable mining pumps
  • Other mobile equipment designed for four-conductor Type W cable

Selection Boundaries

  • Do not substitute this cable for Type G-GC when a ground-check conductor is required.
  • Do not substitute it for SHD-GC when the circuit requires screened power conductors and ground-check monitoring.
  • Confirm automatic reeling, high-speed cycling, repeated torsion and pulling load separately.
  • Check cable outer diameter against reels, rollers, glands, couplers and equipment entry points.
  • Apply the specified reel correction factor when one or more cable layers remain wound on a reel.

Information Needed for Selection

  • Nominal and maximum system voltage
  • Required AWG or metric conductor size
  • Equipment model and circuit configuration
  • Cable length and number of drums
  • Dragging, coiling or reel arrangement
  • Number of cable layers remaining on the reel
  • Ambient temperature and operating duty
  • Required mine acceptance, marking and test documentation
