Type G-GC Cable for 2000V Mining Equipment
Type G-GC cable is a round three-conductor 2 kV portable mining power cable with two grounding conductors and a separate insulated ground-check conductor. The supplied construction uses flexible rope-lay stranded tinned-copper conductors, 90°C EPR insulation, textile reinforcement and a heavy-duty black CPE jacket. It is intended for mobile surface or underground equipment that requires grounding and protective ground-continuity monitoring.
The ground-check conductor is part of the monitoring circuit, not a substitute for the equipment grounding conductors. Confirm the protection scheme, conductor size, route length, current, termination space and movement duty before treating one portable mining cable type as interchangeable with another.
- Suitable for: blast-hole drills, continuous miners, cutters, loaders, shuttle cars, pumps and similar relocatable equipment.
- Choose by: 2000V circuit requirements, AWG/kcmil size, ampacity, voltage drop, overall diameter and reel conditions.
- Confirm before ordering: grounding layout, ground-check conductor, drum layers, cable length, marking and documentation.
- Use another construction when: the project specifies shielded medium-voltage cable or does not use a ground-check circuit.

Type G-GC Cable Construction
The supplied round Type G-GC cable combines three power conductors with two grounding conductors and one ground-check conductor. Each layer below is taken from the supplied TEBAOFLEX 2 kV datasheet; final conductor identification and marking follow the approved order drawing.

| Component | Supplied construction | Buyer relevance |
|---|---|---|
| Power conductors | Three flexible rope-lay stranded tinned-copper conductors | Provides the flexible phase-conductor system for mobile 2 kV equipment connections. |
| Insulation | Heat-, moisture- and ozone-resistant 90°C ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) | The insulation system supports the stated conductor temperature and portable mining duty. |
| Grounding conductors | Two flexible rope-lay stranded tinned-copper grounding conductors | These conductors provide the equipment-grounding path defined by the circuit design. |
| Ground-check conductor | Flexible tinned-copper conductor with yellow polypropylene insulation | Connects to the protective ground-continuity monitoring circuit specified for the equipment. |
| Separator | Non-conductive separator tape over the cabled core assembly | Separates and binds the assembled cable core. |
| Reinforcement | Textile reinforcement embedded beneath the outer jacket | Adds mechanical support for severe trailing service. |
| Outer jacket | Heavy-duty reinforced mold-cured thermosetting chlorinated polyethylene (CPE), black | Provides the outer protection stated for abrasion, flexing, moisture, ozone and weather exposure. |
| Cable shape | Round three-conductor construction with grounding and ground-check conductors | Overall diameter and termination fit must be checked against the selected size. |
Type G-GC Cable Applications
Type G-GC cable is used for 2000V portable power circuits on mobile or relocatable mining equipment when the protection scheme requires both equipment grounding conductors and a separate ground-check conductor. The supplied datasheet names blast-hole drills, continuous miners, pumps, cutters, loading machines and shuttle cars. Suitability still depends on the route, termination system, monitoring circuit, ampacity, voltage drop and mechanical handling.

What does the ground-check conductor do?
The insulated ground-check conductor forms part of a protective monitoring circuit that checks continuity of the equipment-grounding path. If the project requires this function, the conductor, terminations and relay logic must be treated as one system. The ground-check conductor does not replace either grounding conductor, and cable selection alone does not establish the protection settings. Include the equipment electrical diagram or existing cable marking in the RFQ so the conductor functions can be matched before manufacture.
How does Type G-GC compare with other mining cables?
| Cable family | Selection difference |
|---|---|
| Type G-GC | Unshielded 2 kV portable cable with grounding conductors and a separate ground-check conductor. |
| Type G | Related portable mining family without the separate ground-check conductor; use only when the protection design permits it. |
| Type W cable | Portable power option selected by conductor count and route where a Type G-GC ground-check arrangement is not specified. |
| SHD-GC cable | Shielded mining cable family for the voltage and protection requirements stated by the project; not a name substitute for Type G-GC. |
