Product overview

NTMCWOEU 26/45 kV flexible switchgear cable

TEBAOFLEX NTMCWOEU cable is a flexible single-core medium-voltage connection cable for switchgear cubicles, mobile transformer substations and selected railway equipment. The supplied construction data describes a tinned flexible copper conductor, zero-halogen cross-linked HEPR insulation, semiconductive electric-field control, a tinned copper wire screen and a zero-halogen EVA-based outer sheath.

The NTMCWOEU range is intended where the cable must be routed and handled around equipment while maintaining a defined medium-voltage construction. The reference sheet lists 26/45 kV rated voltage, +90 °C maximum conductor temperature, +250 °C short-circuit conductor temperature and operating temperatures from -40 °C to +80 °C. It also lists free-movement, installation and fixed-installation bending guidance based on the outer diameter.

  • Typical duties: switchgear connections, mobile transformer substations, overhead-line connections and pantographs on locomotives or trains.
  • Reference sizes: 1×50/16 through 1×630/35, with diameter, weight, resistance and current values shown in the Specifications tab.
  • Order boundary: confirm the final size, screen section, voltage, colour, installation mode and inspection or test documents against the approved drawing.

TEBAOFLEX can manufacture the NTMCWOEU construction to the required project configuration. Request the cable drawing and quotation before treating any reference range as a guaranteed finished size.

For a 26/45 kV pantograph connection or coach-to-coach jumper, review (N)TMCGCHXOEUK pantograph and jumper cable. Its pantograph and jumper variants have different screen constructions; request the exact variant and drawing when comparing it with this NTMCWOEU switchgear cable.

Lower-voltage switchgear and transformer links that call for a red PUR sheath are covered by the (N)TMCGC11Y screened MV switchgear cable, with complete size tables published for its 6/10 and 12/20 kV grades.

Construction

NTMCWOEU cable construction

The NTMCWOEU construction combines a class 5 tinned copper conductor with zero-halogen insulation, screened electric-field control and a flexible tinned copper wire screen. The sheath is specified as a zero-halogen cross-linked EVA-based compound; red or black are listed, with other colours available on request.

Applications

NTMCWOEU cable applications

Use the NTMCWOEU cable where a flexible single-core medium-voltage connection is required around switchgear, mobile transformer equipment or railway equipment. The supplied application reference covers the following duties:
  • Connection of switchgear cubicles
  • Connection of mobile transformer substations to overhead lines
  • Connection of pantographs on locomotives and trains
  • Railway vehicles with hazard level HL3 according to DIN EN 45545-1 (2013), where the final vehicle and system approval requires it
During laying and operation, protect the NTMCWOEU installation from excessive mechanical stress. Confirm the route, bend mode, support, termination, screen bonding and required railway or equipment documentation in the order drawing. DIN VDE 0298-3 is identified in the supplied application material. For a switchgear or mobile-substation quotation, send the NTMCWOEU voltage, cross-section, screen section, length, colour, installation arrangement and required test documents.

Connections in tight equipment spaces at 10 kV and 20 kV

The lower-voltage reference family is used as a highly resistant connection for mini-subs, switches, transformers, generators and motors in the medium-voltage range. Its high flexibility suits limited connection spaces where a small bending radius is required - the minimum is 5 × D - and its thermal short-circuit capacity is stated in the reference literature as identical to that of XLPE cables, so it can replace a rigid XLPE tail without derating the short-circuit design.

Choose between the two constructions on this page by the requirement, not by the voltage alone: the 10 kV and 20 kV family with its polychloroprene sheath for industrial equipment connections, and the 26/45 kV zero-halogen construction wherever halogen-free, low-smoke or railway rules apply. For a fixed single-core medium-voltage run from 3.6/6 kV to 18/30 kV see NTMCGCWÖU single-core MV cable.

Compact kiosk substations have their own single-core family: the CHKCU kiosk substation cable comes in 6/10, 12.7/22 and 20/35 kV ratings with a concentric conductor and black chloroprene sheath.

Reference designation cross-reference

This connection cable is catalogued under its own reference name at 10 kV and 20 kV. Read the voltage carefully: the reference family and the 26/45 kV build on this page are different constructions.

What we supply is the equivalent construction: we manufacture to the same VDE type designation and published construction, and every designation listed here can be quoted and supplied as a TEBAOFLEX build. The names appear so that an enquiry written in those terms reaches the matching construction, which is made to the standards and construction confirmed for the order.

Lower-voltage reference family: 10 kV and 20 kV classes

The same designation is also built as a flexible single-core connection cable to DIN VDE 0250 Parts 812 and 813 in a 10 kV and a 20 kV class. It is a different construction from the 26/45 kV cable above, and the difference that matters most is the sheath.

2Inner semi-conducting layerRubber
3InsulationType 3GI3, EPR based
4Outer semi-conducting layerRubber
5ScreenHelix braiding of tinned copper wires
6SheathPolychloroprene type 5GM3, red

Not halogen-free. The polychloroprene 5GM3 sheath of this family contains halogen. It cannot be offered where the zero-halogen EVA sheath, the IEC 60754 / IEC 61034 smoke and halogen references or the railway HL3 reference on this page are required; for those, the 26/45 kV construction above is the one to quote.

The class is given as 10 kV and 20 kV. The AC test voltages of 17 kV and 29 kV correspond to U0/U 6/10 kV and 12/20 kV under DIN VDE 0250 Part 813, so state the U0/U of the system with the enquiry. The minimum bending radius is 5 × D; the millimetre values in the tables are 5 × D rounded down to a 5 mm step, so where a drawing needs the exact figure use 5 × the actual outer diameter. The DC resistance and short-circuit current match the 26/45 kV table size for size because the class 5 conductor is the same.
