For quotation, send the conductor size, cable length, installation route, termination details, required standard edition and any project-specific approval or marking requirement.
Type MP-GC 15kV Cable for Fixed Mine Power Distribution
Type MP-GC 15kV mine power feeder cable is intended for high-voltage connections between mine distribution systems, tunnels, shafts and load centres where the circuit includes ground-continuity monitoring. It is a three-conductor feeder construction for permanent or other non-flexing routes rather than a cable for continuous trailing or reeling.
The cable can be considered for ducts, troughs, cable tray, aerial routes, bore holes and direct-buried mine feeders when the installation method and project specification permit. The internal grounding and ground-check arrangement must be coordinated with the protection system, couplers, terminations and mine requirements.
- Suitable for: fixed 15kV mine feeder circuits between distribution equipment and load centres.
- Confirm before ordering: system voltage, conductor size, route length, installation method, grounding arrangement, ground-check circuit and termination design.
- Choose another construction when: the cable will be repeatedly dragged, reeled, flexed or exposed to dynamic torsion.

Construction
Type MP-GC 15kV uses a three-conductor mine power feeder construction with electrical-field screening, grounding conductors and a dedicated ground-check conductor. Final layer dimensions and conductor sizes must follow the approved production datasheet.
| Component | Supplied Construction | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Power conductors | Stranded bare annealed copper; ASTM B3 and B8 references are stated in the supplied data | Carries the three-phase mine feeder current |
| Conductor shield | Extruded semiconducting layer over each conductor | Controls the electrical field at the conductor-to-insulation interface |
| Insulation | Cross-linked polyethylene, XLPE | Provides the primary dielectric layer for the 15kV circuit |
| Insulation shield | Extruded semiconducting insulation shield with helically applied copper tape | Provides electrical-field control and a metallic shielding path |
| Grounding conductors | Two bare copper grounding conductors | Provides the equipment grounding path specified for the circuit |
| Ground-check conductor | One copper conductor with yellow insulation | Connects to the specified ground-continuity monitoring circuit |
| Core assembly | Three power conductors with grounding and ground-check elements assembled into a round cable | Maintains the required conductor arrangement and cable profile |
| Outer jacket | Black polyvinyl chloride, PVC | Provides external mechanical and environmental protection |
Applications
Type MP-GC 15kV cable is intended for fixed or permanent high-voltage mine power distribution where the protection system requires a dedicated ground-check conductor.
Fixed mine power feeder route between distribution equipment and an underground load centre.Suitable installation routes
- High-voltage connections between mine distribution systems and load centres
- Underground mine tunnels and shafts
- Mine bore-hole power distribution routes
- Duct and conduit installations
- Cable trough and cable tray installations
- Project-approved aerial feeder routes
- Direct-buried mine feeder circuits
Selection boundaries
- Use this construction for fixed or non-flexing service rather than continuous trailing, reeling or festoon operation.
- Do not select the cable only by voltage; confirm the grounding, ground-check, shielding and termination requirements.
- Do not treat Type MP-GC and Type SHD-GC as automatically interchangeable. The required movement duty and cable construction must be reviewed separately.
- For vertical suspension, repeated relocation or mechanically dynamic routes, provide the complete installation details for an engineering review.
