RONDOFLEX & PLANOFLEX Crane Festoon & Travelling Cable Series (0.6/1 kV)
Heavy-duty 0.6/1 kV overhead crane and port gantry festoon cables—combining the round RONDOFLEX ((N)GRDGÖU-J/O) series and the flat PLANOFLEX (NGFLGÖU-J/O 0.6/1 kV) series—engineered to DIN VDE 0250-809 and DIN VDE 0250-814 for motorized I-beam/box-girder festoon trolleys, ship-to-shore boom loops and high-bay stacker cranes. Constructed with Class 5/6 flexible copper conductors, +90 °C 3GI3 EPR core insulation and a weather-, oil- and flame-resistant 5GM3/5GM5 polychloroprene rubber sheath.
High-speed container crane boom festoons, steelworks ladle crane trolleys and automated bulk-handling gantries use two complementary 0.6/1 kV festoon geometries: round cables (RONDOFLEX series) for heavy single- and multi-core loops that must resist wind-induced lateral sway, and flat cables (PLANOFLEX series) for compact multi-tier stacking where trolley parking length and saddle bend radius are constrained.
The round RONDOFLEX series (aligned with DIN VDE 0250-814 / (N)GRDGÖU-J/O) combines Class 5/6 flexible copper conductors and +90 °C 3GI3 EPR core insulation with a pressure-extruded inner elastomer bedding and a heavy-duty black 5GM3/5GM5 polychloroprene outer sheath. Because the inner bedding locks the short-pitch core assembly without stiff metallic armour, RONDOFLEX hangs smoothly in deep catenary loops on motorized festoon carriages running at travel speeds up to 240 m/min.
The flat PLANOFLEX series (aligned with DIN VDE 0250-809 / NGFLGÖU-J/O) aligns 4 to 42 insulated cores in one or two parallel horizontal rows inside a flexible 5GM3 polychloroprene flat web jacket, enabling minimum dynamic bending radii down to 8 × to 10 × cable thickness. Jiangsu Tebaoflex Special Cable Co., Ltd. holds third-party verification of conformity (ICR, cert. ICR/VC/HTT260331) against the DIN VDE 0250 series based on test reports XMT0202600330W/EMC and /LVD (2025-03-30).
Indicate whether your festoon system uses round RONDOFLEX or flat PLANOFLEX saddles, along with core count, cross-section, loop depth and trolley travel speed. TEBAOFLEX manufactures custom festoon lengths from a 50 m minimum order quantity with a standard lead time of 7–45 working days.

Verify round versus flat trolley saddle geometry, core count, and bend radius before ordering.
Construction
The representative construction illustrates RONDOFLEX (N)GRDGÖU-J 0.6/1 kV 12G2.5 mm² Round Crane Festoon Cable (alongside PLANOFLEX flat geometry): 12 Class 5/6 extra-flexible copper cores insulated with +90 °C 3GI3 EPR cabled in a short pitch around a central elastomeric filler, locked in a vulcanized light-grey 5GM3 inner sheath and protected by a supple, flame- and oil-resistant black 5GM3/5GM5 polychloroprene rubber outer sheath.

| Component | Material and construction |
|---|---|
| Conductors | Extra-flexible Class 5 or Class 6 stranded bare or tinned copper conductors per DIN EN 60228 / VDE 0295 (1.5 mm² to 240 mm²). |
| Core insulation | Heat- and ozone-resistant ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR compound 3GI3 per DIN VDE 0207-20) rated for +90 °C continuous conductor operation. |
| Core lay & geometry (RONDOFLEX vs. PLANOFLEX) | RONDOFLEX (Round): short-pitch concentric lay around a central elastomer profile with an extruded 5GM3 inner bedding. PLANOFLEX (Flat): cores arranged side by side in a parallel horizontal row. |
| Strain relief (RONDOFLEX-T / high-speed) | Integrated central synthetic support element or textile braid on high-speed port festoon variants to absorb trolley acceleration forces up to 1.5 m/s². |
| Outer jacket | Heavy-duty black polychloroprene rubber (PCP compound 5GM3 / 5GM5 per DIN VDE 0207-21), resistant to marine salt spray, UV, ozone, oil (EN 60811-404) and flame propagation (IEC 60332-1-2). |
Applications
Select round RONDOFLEX for high-wind outdoor port crane boom festoons (where round profiles minimize aerodynamic drag and twist) and flat PLANOFLEX for indoor/outdoor C-rail and I-beam trolleys requiring tight saddle radii.

- Ship-to-shore (STS) container crane boom catenary festoon systems operating at trolley speeds up to 240 m/min.
- Overhead bridge cranes, steelmill charging cranes, foundry hoists and bulk grab cranes with I-beam or box-beam festoon carriages.
- Automated high-bay warehouse stacker cranes, shipboard gantry cranes and electroplating/galvanizing hoist lines.
- Flexible single-core (1×50 to 1×240 mm²), multi-core power (4G2.5 to 4G120 mm²) and multi-core control (7G1.5 to 42G2.5 mm²) festoon loops.
