AS/NZS 1972 XLPE Mine Feeder Cable, 11 and 22 kV
Three-core XLPE mine feeder cable for fixed distribution at 6.35/11 or 12.7/22 kV, with individual copper-wire screens, PVC inner sheath, galvanized steel-wire armour and PVC outer sheath. Select the voltage and a complete dimensional schedule for the required conductor size.
AS/NZS 1972 XLPE mine feeder cable supplies fixed mine distribution circuits at 6.35/11 or 12.7/22 kV. Three copper power cores are individually insulated and copper-wire screened, then assembled beneath a PVC inner sheath, galvanized steel-wire armour and a PVC outer sheath. This page covers stationary feeder routes where the circuit specification calls for that screened, armoured construction.
Choose the full voltage designation before selecting conductor area. The 6.35/11 kV construction uses 3.4 mm nominal XLPE insulation, while the 12.7/22 kV construction uses 5.5 mm. The discrete sizes and dimensional schedules remain separate because an identical conductor area can have a different overall diameter and mass. Use the selected schedule when checking cable entries, cleats, drums and termination dimensions.
The copper-wire screens and steel-wire armour occupy different positions and perform different functions. Specify the required screen-earth arrangement, bonding and fault-duty calculations with the installation design. These three-core feeders contain no separate pilot or ground-check core. Where the project specifies MP-GC, compare 15 kV XLPE/PVC MP-GC feeder cable or EPR/CPE MP-GC feeder cable, and use that construction’s own grounding arrangement. A moving machine supply requires a cable selected for its actual trailing or reeling duty.
For a quotation, identify the voltage, conductor area, dimensional schedule, route, termination requirements and total length. TEBAOFLEX supplies this XLPE feeder family from a 50 m minimum order quantity, with a manufacturing lead time of 7–45 working days. Include the applicable standard edition and project acceptance documents so the quoted construction can be matched to the installation.

Construction
The three round power cores are individually copper-wire screened and laid up into a round armoured cable. The main image represents the 6.35/11 kV, 3 × 95 mm² configuration from dimensional schedule 2.
| Component | Material and construction |
|---|---|
| Power conductors | Three stranded plain-copper conductors; schedule 2 specifies circular compressed Class 2 annealed copper. |
| Conductor screen | Semiconducting layer over each conductor in the detailed schedule 2 construction. |
| Insulation | XLPE: nominal 3.4 mm at 6.35/11 kV and 5.5 mm at 12.7/22 kV. |
| Insulation screen | Semiconducting layer outside the XLPE in the detailed schedule 2 construction. |
| Individual metallic screens | Copper wires around each insulated phase; wire count/diameter and, for schedule 1, screen area are tabulated. |
| Assembly and inner sheath | Three screened cores with interstitial filler beneath a common PVC inner sheath. |
| Armour | One common layer of galvanized round steel wires. |
| Outer sheath | PVC; schedule 1 cites AS/NZS 1429.1. |
Applications
Use this construction for fixed high-voltage feeder routes in mines where the specified voltage, earthing system and armoured installation match the selected schedule.
- Stationary mine power-distribution feeders between electrical distribution points.
- Replacement of an identified AS/NZS 1972 XLPE feeder after matching the complete voltage designation, conductor size, screen and termination dimensions.
- Projects specifying individually copper-wire-screened three-core feeders with common steel-wire armour.
- Fixed routes designed with cable support, bending, pulling and bonding requirements appropriate to the ordered construction.
For route and construction selection, see the medium-voltage mining cable selection guide.
For fixed low-voltage distribution within the same standard family, compare Type A and Type B 1.1/1.1 kV mine feeder cable. Match the voltage, insulation and pilot arrangement to the circuit.

Schedules 1 and 2 are separate reference constructions. Choose one complete schedule for the quotation; do not combine a diameter, mass, screen or armour value from different schedules.
Mass is stated in kg/100 m, exactly as tabulated. Overall diameters and masses are reference values subject to the selected construction and manufacturing tolerances.
Screen-wire notation gives number of wires / individual wire diameter in mm. Schedule 1 screen area is for an individual core screen, not an additional power conductor.
DC resistance is tabulated at 20°C and AC resistance at 90°C for schedule 2. These reference temperatures do not by themselves establish installation ambient limits or a complete thermal rating.
Determine current-carrying capacity from the selected cable, ambient temperature, route, grouping, support and thermal conditions. No universal ampacity is assigned to this page.
Confirm the pulling arrangement, minimum bend radius, screen bonding and fault-current duty with the order-specific cable design. Steel-wire armour alone does not establish a self-supporting shaft length.

Certifications and document support
Review our company certificates and document scopes when identifying the documentation required for the quoted construction.
State the required AS/NZS edition, voltage, conductor area, complete dimensional schedule, screen-earth arrangement and acceptance tests. Match any required product approval, test record and cable marking to that exact ordered construction; a standard citation or company management-system certificate has a different scope.
