For a technical quotation, provide voltage, conductor size, route, area classification, armour material, terminations and required approval documents.
Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable for low-smoke marine power routes
Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable is designed for 1 kV or 2 kV AC power circuits on shipboard fixed and floating facilities, FPSOs, TLPs, marine vessels, oilfield equipment and offshore wind substations. The construction pairs a flexible tinned-copper conductor with irradiated low-smoke, zero-halogen cross-linked polyolefin insulation, metallic braid armour and an impervious LSZH outer sheath.
Select Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable when a project needs the documented low-smoke, zero-halogen material system together with braid armour and a sheath over the armour. The supplied information connects this construction with resistance to oils, fluids, saltwater, abrasion, moisture and UV light. For Class I, Division 1 and Zone 1 routes, final selection and installation must follow the governing standard and the authority having jurisdiction.
- Suitable for: stated 1 kV and 2 kV marine, offshore, oilfield and offshore-wind power routes.
- Confirm before ordering: voltage class, conductor size, armour material, cable gland, bonding, installation method and documentation.
- Choose another construction when: the schedule requires multi-core, control, instrumentation, VFD or a different circuit-integrity design.

Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable construction
Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable uses a flexible, soft-annealed tinned-copper conductor in accordance with ASTM B33, B8, B172 and B174. The supplied construction identifies irradiated LSZH cross-linked polyolefin Type LSX insulation, a non-hygroscopic, non-wicking binder tape, metallic braid armour and an LSZH Type L outer sheath.
| Conductor | Flexible, soft-annealed tinned copper |
|---|---|
| Insulation | Irradiated low-smoke, zero-halogen cross-linked polyolefin, Type LSX (LSXLPO) |
| Braid armour | Bronze, tinned copper or stainless steel, in accordance with IEEE Std. 1580 and IEC 60092-350 |
| Binder tape | Non-hygroscopic and non-wicking |
| Sheath | LSZH Type L ZH XLPO; supplied information identifies cold, oil and mud/oil-resistant properties |
Construction selection notes
- Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable armour material must be stated on the RFQ; do not assume that bronze, tinned-copper and stainless-steel braid are interchangeable.
- Confirm cable glands, armour continuity/bonding and terminations against the selected braid material and installation standard.
- Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable is a single-conductor construction. Confirm circuit grouping and installation geometry when selecting ampacity.
Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable applications
Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable is specified for shipboard fixed and floating facilities, FPSOs, TLPs, marine vessels, oilfield equipment and offshore wind substations. Its supplied LSZH material system, braid armour and outer sheath support use where both smoke/halogen limits and route mechanical protection are part of the project requirement.

Installation and selection guidance
- Use Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable for the specified one-core power circuit, not as a generic substitute for a multi-core or unarmoured cable.
- For Class I, Division 1 and Zone 1 locations, Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable must be installed to the referenced standards and AHJ requirements; the supplied material calls for braid armour with an impervious sheath over the armour.
- Base Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable ampacity on the chosen 1 kV or 2 kV table, free-air or raceway installation and 45°C ambient basis.
- Confirm armour bonding, bend route, support spacing, cable-gland suitability, classification evidence and inspection documents before ordering.
For offshore wind substations, use Type LSX 1C armored and sheathed cable to separate a low-smoke marine power requirement from signal, control, VFD or circuit-integrity cable duties.
