Product overview

SHD-GC Cable for 2kV to 25kV Mining Power

SHD-GC cable is a shielded round portable mining power cable for mobile and semi-mobile equipment that needs power conductors, grounding conductors and a ground-check conductor in one heavy-duty construction. TEBAOFLEX supplies the product family for 2kV, 5kV, 8kV, 15kV and 25kV duties. Cable schedules may also write the name as SHD GC cable, Type SHD-GC, SHD-GC mining cable or cable SHD-GC.

The 2kV construction covers shielded portable power requirements that should not be selected only by comparison with Type G-GC or Type W. Higher-voltage configurations serve demanding mining equipment where shielding, grounding continuity, mechanical protection and a rugged jacket are central to the specification. The supplied technical data covers 6 AWG to 500 kcmil at 2kV and 5kV, 4 AWG to 500 kcmil at 8kV, 2 AWG to 4/0 AWG at 15kV, and 1 AWG to 4/0 AWG at 25kV.

Typical construction uses flexible tinned-copper conductors, EPR insulation, conductor and insulation shielding, grounding conductors, an insulated ground-check conductor and an extra-heavy-duty jacket. CPE and TPU jacket options can be reviewed against abrasion, impact, oil, weather, water and low-temperature exposure.

Use this page as the consolidated SHD GC cable specs and quotation reference. Before ordering, confirm system voltage, conductor size, cable length, equipment, route movement, bend radius, jacket exposure and required approval documentation. Compare the Mining & Tunneling Cables range or use the SHD-GC vs Type G-GC vs Type W guide when the cable type is not yet fixed.

Construction

SHD-GC Cable Construction

The exact layer thicknesses and conductor sizes change with voltage and cable size. The following construction describes the consolidated 2kV to 25kV product family and should be checked against the project cable schedule.
SHD-GC cable cross section with shield, grounding and ground-check conductor
SHD-GC cable cross section showing three shielded power conductors, grounding conductors and the yellow ground-check conductor.
LayerTypical constructionSelection purpose
Power conductorsAnnealed, flexible stranded tinned copperSupports repeated handling and corrosion resistance.
Conductor shieldSemi-conductive layer over each power conductorControls the electrical field at the conductor interface.
InsulationEthylene-propylene rubber (EPR), typically rated for 90°C conductor operationProvides dielectric performance with flexibility.
Insulation shieldSemi-conducting layer with composite tinned-copper/polyamide braid; coverage follows the selected designProvides shielding while retaining portable-cable flexibility.
Grounding conductorsFlexible tinned-copper grounding conductors laid in the intersticesProvides the equipment grounding path required by the circuit design.
Ground-check conductorYellow TPE-E or polypropylene insulated flexible tinned copperSupports ground-continuity monitoring; size is project dependent.
Core assemblyFillers and binder/separator tape as required by the constructionMaintains a round profile and stable core lay.
Outer jacketExtra-heavy-duty CPE or project-specified TPU; two-layer or reinforced options availableSelected for abrasion, impact, oil, weather, water, torsion and temperature exposure.
Construction note: jacket compound, reinforcement, shield coverage, ground-check size and approval markings must be confirmed for the exact voltage, conductor size and order.
Applications

SHD-GC Mining Cable Applications

Type SHD-GC is selected when the route needs a shielded portable cable with grounding and ground-check continuity. Match the voltage and mechanical duty to the machine rather than treating every mining cable name as interchangeable.

Selection boundaries

  • Do not substitute Type G-GC or Type W solely because the voltage is 2kV; first confirm whether the circuit requires a shielded SHD-GC construction.
  • Do not treat a standard bend-radius value as a drum-design approval. Send reel, sheave, roller and route data for moving systems.
  • MSHA, CSA or other approval language applies only when the exact supplied construction and marking are documented for the order.
For a broader application path, review Mining Cable Solutions. For a cable-family comparison, use the SHD-GC, Type G-GC and Type W guide.
